NAUGATUCK — Police charged a 23-year-old borough man this week following a months-long narcotics investigation.

Nakeem Robinson was arrested on a warrant Wednesday while he was at Waterbury Superior Court and is facing multiple drug-related charges. The charges stem from an investigation over November and December that found Robinson was selling heroin and other drugs out of his residence, 96 Aetna St., according to the arrest warrant.

Police executed a search warrant at the home at about 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 6, the warrant states. Robinson, four juveniles and two of his family members were home at the time, the warrant states.

Police searched the house with the help of a Connecticut state trooper and his drug-sniffing dog, the warrant states. Police found 12 “bundles” of heroin and 45 Xanax pills in one bedroom, according to the warrant. “Bundles” are typically 10 individual packets of heroin packaged together.

In another bedroom, the warrant states, police found two bags of marijuana totaling nearly 14 grams and a small black safe. Those in the house claimed they didn’t know the combination to the safe, the warrant states, so police forced it open. Police found two .45 caliber handgun magazines, a loose .9mm bullet, and small plastic bags in the safe.

Police also seized two cellphones, $68, four counterfeit one-hundred dollar bills, and two digital scales from the house, according to the warrant.

Waterbury police conducted the search with borough police because Waterbury officers had their own active arrest warrant for Robinson for an incident involving a handgun, the warrant states. Waterbury police took him into custody following the search, according to the warrant.

Naugatuck police charged Robinson with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree forgery, and criminal possession of a firearm and/or ammunition.

Naugatuck police spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.

Robinson has a previous drug conviction from last year. He has several cases in various stages of the court system in Waterbury and Norwich courts, including another drug charge from Naugatuck as well as robbery, larceny, drug, weapons violations, and vehicle charges from Waterbury. Robinson was released back to the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction.
