PROSPECT — Wanda N. (Niestemski) Ploski, 98, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at VITAS Hospice at St. Mary’s Hospital Waterbury.

Wanda was born in Naugatuck to Zygmundt and Florence (Ploski) Niestemski on Jan. 11, 1918. She attended Naugatuck public schools graduating from Naugatuck High in 1936. She married Adolph (aka ‘Murph’), her husband of 64 years, Aug. 31, 1940. Prior to her marriage she worked at US Rubber Naugatuck Footwear Division for several years. Wanda reentered the workforce in the early 1960’s first as the kindergarten teacher and then as school secretary at St. Hedwig School for over 40 years.

Wanda is survived by her children, Gregory and his wife, Linda, Donna and her husband, Donald Anderson, and Kevin, all of Prospect; her sister, Theda and her husband, Salvatore Bosco, of Woodbury; her grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife, Kathy, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Keith Pinto and wife, Shelly, and their son, Malakai, of Prospect, and Gary Ploski and wife, Ali Berman, of Portland, Ore., and several nephews and nieces. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Adolph, and her brother, Alphonse Niestemski, and his wife, Victoria, of Oxford.

The family of Wanda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Regal Care at Prospect and VITAS Hospice at St Mary’s Hospital for their professional care and kindness.

Family and friends will gather at St Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Grzegorz Jaworowski officiating. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
