MIDDLEBURY — Goldie M. Hurworth, 91, the widow of Robert Hurworth, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Goldie was born on Nov. 14, 1924 in Caswell, Maine, a daughter of the late Angus and Felcie (Howland) Donovan. Goldie retired from the Waterbury VNA, where she had worked as a home health aide, and was a member of Hillside Covenant Church in Naugatuck. Goldie loved animals, flowers and gardening.

Goldie is survived by her nieces, Lynn Donovan and her significant other, Suzie Poplardo, and Cynthia Taurinski and her husband, Michael Taurinski, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Goldie was predeceased by her nephew, Gary Donovan; her siblings, Lynwood, Phillip, Ed, Emery, Norman, Loomis, Birdie, Gregory and Richard Donovan and Nessie Elliott, and her beloved dog, Lexiss.

The family would like to thank the staff at VITAS Innovative Care and Goldie’s caring aides, Anita Finkle and Wendy Blaidsel for the wonderful care that they provided.

A Funeral Service celebrating Goldie’s Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
