To the editor,
I am a better person for having known Dr. “Sol” Aordkian. The Borough of Naugatuck lost a great man this past month in longtime chiropractor and friend to many of us, Dr. Solomon Aordkian. For over 50 years Dr. Aordkian served the local and surrounding community at his chiropractic office, however was just as known for his participation and support of many Naugatuck area organizations. A humble man, Dr. Sol was always there to help anyone who asked. If you needed something, he would help. If you asked for his guidance, he would provide it.
Dr. Aordkian’s dedication to the borough was undeniable. Upon first meeting with Dr. Sol, he told me “It is our duty to give back without an expectation of return.” Dr. Sol gave back in many ways. Over his career he supported local sports, school events and community groups. He taught my office staff and I to give back to those that support us, specifically in Naugatuck and that it is always more noble to be a participator, than a spectator in the community.
Over the past five decades, Dr. Aordkian taught his patients that health is truly the greatest wealth. He would always say “do not sacrifice your health to gain wealth.” Dr. Sol’s legacy will live on in the way he provided service to his patients and the Naugatuck community.
