NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck High School was evacuated for about an hour Thursday morning following a report of a gas odor coming from the culinary department.

Police and firefighters responded to the school at about 7:15 a.m. after the odor was reported, police said. Students and staff already in the school were evacuated, and students getting dropped off remained outside the building.

Eversource and the Naugatuck Fire Department checked the building and determined it to be safe. Students and staff were allowed back in shortly after 8 a.m. to resume the school day, police said.
