Letter: Conroy supports manufacturing and tech schools

To the editor,

As someone who has worked and been active in Connecticut manufacturing for over 40 years, I would encourage Representative Theresa Conroy’s re-election. She is one our biggest supporters of small manufacturing and technical trade school education in Connecticut.

When we manufacturers were pushing to have apprentice tax credits and R&D tax credits extended to small manufacturers she was one of the first reps to offer to help. To support our push for strengthening the trade school funding she arranged a visit by Senator Chris Murphy to Platt Tech with the students which helped reinforce support for these programs. She also was one of the state reps pushing the need to orient young students to manufacturing careers through technical school education. The last two years when they held the Manufacturing Hall of Fame in Bridgeport, which supports the Manufacturing Technology Center at Housatonic College, she was one of the only few state representatives to show up. She always makes herself available for our manufacturing efforts.

There are so many reps who don’t care about manufacturing or the students making a career in manufacturing, we need to re-elect one who does with vigor. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent I would encourage you to vote for Rep. Conroy and return one of Connecticut manufacturing’s strongest advocates to Hartford.
