Letter: Conroy has focused on jobs

To the editor,

With the state facing challenging economic times, Representative Theresa Conroy has focused on three very important issues: jobs, jobs and jobs.

Knowing that small and large businesses alike need help in creating jobs, which will ultimately lead to a vibrant economy for Connecticut, she voted on a bipartisan bill just recently to keep Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut for a long time.

With a local supplier for Sikorsky right here in Seymour and many employees who live in town and commute to Sikorsky in Stratford and to other towns that host Sikorsky suppliers, Conroy knew that it was critical for Connecticut to keep Sikorsky in the state.

Just about everyone in Connecticut has friends or family members or knows of people who depend on manufacturing jobs tied to military.

Conroy has supported the manufacturing industry and especially the job training programs offered at Platt Tech, programs geared toward our next-generation of jobs.

She has voted for legislation supporting small businesses, programs like the Small Business Express, and for numerous tax incentives to help companies grow jobs. Conroy has also voted for legislation establishing a committee to coordinate efforts to educate middle and high school students about manufacturing.

To address teacher shortages in technical high schools, she supported a bill establishing a pilot program to provide manufacturing training for current workers who require additional skills or training.

Conroy knows what the state has to do to guarantee our future success, and we need to vote for her in the November election.
