MIAMI, Fla — Vivian Luisa Rodriguez, 61, of Miami, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016 at Kendall Regional Hospital in Miami after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Vivian was born on Aug. 25, 1955 in Antilla, Oriente, Cuba, a daughter of the late Manuel and Ana Celia (Arafet) Rodriguez. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in business management from Barry University and was employed as a workmen’s compensation manager at the University of Miami. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family, especially Christmases in Connecticut and served as secretary of the Kendall Walk Condominium Association.

Vivian is survived by a brother, Joe M. Rodriguez of Naugatuck; a sister, Ana Rosa Rodriguez-Arafet of San Juan, P.R.; nieces and nephew, Tania Leyva and her husband, Arturo, Mark Rodriguez and his wife, Wendie, and Tatiana Leyva’ one great niece, several great nephews and many cousins, including Adela Monteiro and Dunia Rodrigues with whom she shared a special bond and helped Vivian throughout her illness and to whom her family is eternally grateful. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Amy Rodriguez; and a brother-in-law, Lalo Leyva.

Vivian’s family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to all of her friends in Miami.

A calling hour will be held at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. Vivian’s funeral will be held on Saturday Sept. 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
