BEACON FALLS — Helen M. (O’Donnell) Semplenski, 85, of Beacon Falls, the beloved wife of 65 years to Frank R. Semplenski, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016  at Glendale Center. She was born in Ansonia on Oct. 29, 1930, the daughter of the late David M. and Mary (Cerrano) O’Donnell, Sr.

Helen was a devout communicant of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild. She also taught CCD at St. Michael Church. Helen graduated from Ansonia High School, Class of 1948. She retired from Uniroyal where she held various positions in the accounting department. Helen was a charter member and past president of the Democratic Women’s Club. She served as past president as well as vice president of the Laurel Ledge PTA. Helen served as secretary for The VFW Ladies Auxiliary (Post 1945) and for the Friends of The Beacon Falls Library. She served on the Board of Directors for the Historical Society and she was a member of the Lioness Club. Helen also was the past president of the Beacon Falls Seniors Center and a member of the Junior Women’s Club. Most of all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Helen will be sadly missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts.

Her family in addition to her beloved husband, Frank, includes her three cherished grandchildren; Eric and Christie Maffeo of Beacon Falls, and Kimberlee Maffeo of Orlando, Fla., and her caring son-in-law, Craig Maffeo of Beacon Falls. Helen was predeceased by her infant son, Gerald Marshall Semplenski; her loving daughter, Sara Maffeo, and a brother, David O’Donnell Jr.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 at 9 a.m. directly at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. Interment will be held privately by the family at St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There will be no calling hours. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour is caring for the family.

Memorial gifts in Helen’s memory may be made to the Chief Crazy Horse Foundation of South Dakota or St. Joseph’s Indian School through the funeral home.
