SOUTHBURY — Fay S. Brown, 93, formerly of the Bryam section of Greenwich, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Frederick McChesney and the late Russel Brown.

Mrs. Brown was born June 7, 1923 in New Suffolk, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma (Squires) Purdy. She was a bookkeeper for Hirshberg, Pettengill and Strong in Greenwich for many years. She was also a member of the United Congregational Church in Pawcatuck.

She is survived by her son, Charles McChesney and his wife, Hanna, of North Carolina; her daughters, Jeananne Urbanowicz and her husband, Edward, of Beacon Falls, and Frances Szegda and her husband, Robert, of Groton; her grandchildren, Edward and Kellyjean Urbanowicz, William Snyder and his wife, Christine, and Krista Snyder; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jaden and Noah Urbanowicz, Caydence and Caylee Snyder, and Juliana Quattromani. She is predeceased by her siblings, Charlotte Purdy, Charles Purdy, Thomas Mahon and Marylyn Womer.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the staff of River Glen Health Center for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
