NAUGATUCK — Joel B. Mahler, 84, husband of the late Shirley (Shleman) (London) Mahler, died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital.

Joel was born on Feb. 21, 1932 in Far Rockaway, N.Y., a son of the late Murray and Dorothy (Lenoff) Mahler, and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 15 years. Joel was an avid NY Yankees fan and had retired from Pan American Airlines, where he worked as a mechanic.

Joel is survived by his daughters, Laurie Monsky and her husband, Wayne Monsky, and Paula Borowski and her husband, Phil Borowski, all of Naugatuck; his son, David London and his wife, Sonia London, of L.I., N.Y.; his grandchildren, Briana Monsky, Stephanie Borowski, Chris Monsky, Alex Monsky and Sam Borowski. In addition to his wife and his parents, Joel was predeceased by his brother, Perry Mahler.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
