PROSPECT — Mrs. Josephine M. Guastaferri, 98, of Prospect, passed away peacefully Monday, July 4 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Anthony O. Guastaferri.

Josephine was born Dec. 17, 1917 in Lucito, Italy, a daughter the late John and Aida (Minnicucci) Pettinicchi. She was a prominent local business owner whose family business extended over 60 years in Prospect, Waterbury and Florida and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.

Mrs. Guastaferri is survived by a daughter, Paula Mirabelle and her husband Dominick of Prospect; a son, Mark Guastaferri and his wife Cynthia of Prospect; six grandchildren, Anthony Mirabelle, Rocky Mirabelle, Louis Mirabelle, Nicholas Guastaferri, Michael Guastaferri, and Lauren Guastaferri, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Guastaferri’s family would like to thank Dr. Kent Burgwardt and the staff of the St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room for the exceptional care that they provided to her.

Mrs. Guastaferri’s funeral will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday July 9, 2016 from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
