Letter: Selectman applauded for bringing issue to light

To editor,

I applaud (Selectman) Michael Krenesky for bringing the delinquent tax issue to our attention and proposing that no elected or appointed official who owes back taxes should be allowed to serve our town.  Not paying taxes is a definite conflict of interest.  Shouldn’t our town representatives lead by example?

For those of us who pay our taxes promptly, allowing any of our town’s decision-makers to be delinquent is an insult.  Perhaps anyone who considers being appointed or running for an elected position should go on a payment plan first and then serve the town after the debt has been paid in full. This would demonstrate that person’s commitment to, and respect for, our Town of Beacon Falls and its citizens.
