Fireworks to cap Family Day

BEACON FALLS — The town’s annual Family Day is Saturday.

The day begins with the Cardboard Boat Regatta at 10 a.m. at Matthies Park. Teams will compete in a race on Carrington Pond in homemade cardboard boats.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Beacon Falls residents and their guests can bring their canoes or kayaks, or use one provided, to ride on the pond.

The evening ends with the annual Fireworks Celebration from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Pent Road Recreation Complex, 100 Pent Road.

The celebration will feature food provided by nonprofit vendors and live music. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk. Buses will run from Beacon Hose Company No. 1 on Main Street and Woodland Regional High School, 135 Back Rimmon Road, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
