NAUGATUCK — The St. Francis-St. Hedwig School Spring Carnival returns this week.

The carnival is hosted by the St. Francis-St. Hedwig Home School Association. It opens Thursday and runs through Saturday. The carnival is open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday on the St. Francis Field on Church Street.

The carnival, which features rides, vendors and games, was revived in 2012 after a five-year hiatus.

“It’s going along very well,” said Nathan Hein, president of the association. “We raised several thousand dollars last year. The money goes towards offsetting tuition at school.”

The carnival company the school works with features different rides every couple of years, so the carnival won’t just have all the same rides it had last year, Hein said.

Carnival goers will have a chance to buy classic carnival foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, fried dough, and popcorn, Hein added.

The money from the food sales goes back to the school.

Hein encouraged people to come down, have a good time, and support the school.

“It’s a great community event for people from town to get to know each other and support an intuition that has been in the town for over 100 years,” Hein said.
