NAUGATUCK — Mary (Kapustey) Urena, 92, widow of Alex Urena, passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. She was born in Wilkesbarre, Pa., on May 2, 1924, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Spak) Kapustey.
A resident of Naugatuck for over 70 years, Mary had worked for various companies, including Peter Paul, Lewis Engineering and Murphy’s Department Store. She was a member of the Marine Corps. Women’s Auxiliary, VFW Post 1976 and American Legion in Naugatuck, Gold Star Wives, the Waterbury R Club, and the American Russian Club in Shelton. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Waterbury.
Mary is survived by her nieces, Claire Bellemare, Anna Mae Sunbury, and Elaine Harris (predeceased); many other great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and friends; and her beloved caretaker, Linda Rebelo. She was predeceased by her companion George Sentivan.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
