NAUGATUCK — The borough will hold a public information meeting on a plan to reconstruct Cross Street between Route 8 and New Haven Road

The meeting is June 23 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 229 Church St.

Public Works Director James Stewart said in a press release that the preliminary design for the project, which is estimated to cost $4.43 million, has been completed. The project includes improvements at the intersection of Cotton Hollow Road.

Eighty percent of the project is expected to be paid for by the Federal Highway Administration, with 10 percent coming from the state and 10 percent coming from the borough.

Some residents have expressed concerns over the project due to widening of the road and what that could mean for property owners along Cross Street.

Preliminary plans and reports are available for review on the borough’s website, naugatuck-ct.gov.

Stewart encouraged residents to attend the meeting.

“It is the borough’s and the state’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns to assist in the projects development,” Stewart said in the release.

Stewart said anyone seeking information can contact him at jstewart@naugatuck-ct.gov or at 203-720-7071.
