Police: Suspicious man offered rides to children

NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating two separate reports of a suspicious man offering rides to children.

The first incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The second incident occurred Monday at 7:45 a.m., police said. The incidents occurred on Bridge Street near lower Spring Street.

In both cases, police said, a man driving a red-colored vehicle approached children, ranging in age from 10 to 14, and asked if they wanted a ride. The man was described as white and about 40 to 45 years old. He appeared to be balding with a pony tail and unshaven, police said.
