BEACON FALLS — Police charged a local man with kidnapping over the weekend after an early morning altercation at his home.

Just after midnight Sunday, state troopers were called to an altercation at 43 Marilyn Ave. The suspect, Christopher Williams, 23, of the same address, had gotten into fight with someone at the house.

Officers were called to the scene at 12:19 a.m., but Williams had fled in his gray 2007 Nissan Maxima, and by the time police arrived, he could not be found.

Troopers initiated an investigation where it was discovered that Williams was involved in a physical altercation with a female victim. After speaking with witnesses, police reported, troopers determined that Williams physically assaulted the victim, took the victim to his vehicle, and fled the scene prior to trooper’s arrival.

After several hours troopers located the victim, who refused medical treatment, police said.

The fight was determined to be a family violence crime and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, troopers returned to the address to locate Williams, but he was not there.

Troopers spotted his car in a parking lot on Noe Place and found him and the victim in the car.

The victim said she was fine and didn’t require medical attention, police said.

Williams was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping and second-degree unlawful restraint. He was released on a $150,000 surety bond and was due in Derby Superior Court Monday.
