NAUGATUCK — Rosa (Sapata) Marques, 67, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Waterbury Hospital with her loving husband of 47 years, Antonio A. “Tony” Marques, Sr. and her daughter, Cathy Piscitelli by her side.
Born in Murtosa, Portugal, on Aug. 9, 1948, she was the daughter of Maria Emilia Oliveira Sapata of Naugatuck and the late Antonio Jose Sapata.
A longtime Naugatuck resident, Rose was active in several community organizations including Clube Uniao Portuguesa and the Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady of the Rosary Society, the Naugatuck Women’s Club and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and prior to retiring worked as an accounting supervisor for Risdon Manufacturing.
In addition to her husband, Tony, and her mother, Maria, she is survived by her son, Tony Marques Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Kansas City, Mo.; her daughter, Cathleen Rose Piscitelli and husband, Paul, of Prospect; three siblings, Emilia DeCampos, Antonio Sapata Jr. and wife, Kathleen, and Ana Luci DaSilva and husband, Jaime DaSilva, all of Naugatuck; her grandchildren, Marina, Anatoly, Nicholas, Madison, Jared and Alexa Rae; and a great-grandson, Ayden. In addition to her father, Rose was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Joao J. DeCampos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Everyone attending the Mass is kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
