BEACON FALLS — George J. Chadderton, Jr., 70, of Beacon Falls and formerly of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury after a long illness on Friday, April 1, 2016. George was born on Oct. 23, 1945 in New Haven, son of the late George J. Chadderton, Sr. and Marie (Gaugle) Chadderton.

He served his country with honor and pride with the U.S. Navy. George worked most of his life as a general contractor and in his free time, he took pleasure tending to his flower and vegetable garden. He was a bird fanatic and was dedicated to his three birds at home. George was a member of the West Haven Elks Lodge No.1537 and the American Legion Post 17 in Naugatuck.

George is survived by his loving son, Scott Chadderton and Courtney Moran of West Haven. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Gillian and Nicholas Chadderton; his brothers, Richard Chadderton and his wife Doris of Wallingford and David Chadderton, Sr. and his wife June of Beacon Falls; sister, Patricia Coughlin and her husband Thomas; his nieces and nephews, Lori (Michael) Saliby, Richard “Ricky” (Diane) Chadderton, David Chadderton, Jr., Kevin (Stacey) Chadderton, Craig Chadderton, Cindy Chadderton, Thomas Coughlin, Jr., Kathy Fiore, Cheryl (Thomas) Hart and MaryBeth Coughlin; and many great nieces and great nephews. George was predeceased by his son, George “Joey” Chadderton, III.

His funeral will leave the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., Naugatuck, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Friends may greet his family at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. At 7:15 p.m., members of the Naugatuck Veteran’s Council will meet at the funeral home to pay their respects.
