Obituary: Lawrence Joseph Garbarino

NAUGATUCK — Mr. Lawrence Joseph Garbarino, 77, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Beatrice A. (Ruggiero) Garbarino.

Mr. Garbarino was born Aug. 10, 1938 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Garassino) Garbarino. He was retired as an engineer and after teaching for many years at Platt Tech Vocational High School and also having worked at Somers Thinstrip. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck and was a member of the Naugatuck Exchange Club and the Lost Chords Club of New Haven. Mr. Garbarino enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

Mr. Garbarino proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Garbarino is survived by a daughter, Tracey Garbarino and her husband Michael Peters of Marlborough; two sons, Peter Garbarino and his wife Jane Greatorex of Naples, Fla., and Paul Garbarino and his wife Jennifer of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Robert Garbarino and his wife Michele Mauro of Killingworth; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lauren Peters and Hannah and Luke Garbarino.

Funeral services for Mr. Garbarino will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck for a mass in celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Private burial and committal services will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m.
