BEACON FALLS — The Woodland Regional High School Student Government will crown the school’s second ever Mr. Woodland in a couple weeks.

The student government is hosting the second annual Mr. Woodland competition Feb. 26 at the school, 135 Back Rimmon Road. The competition starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 if bought in school before the event and $12 at the door.

The pageant-style competition features between eight and 12 junior or senior male students vying for the crown. The contestants compete in four categories — outfit of choice, formal attire, talent and interview — for the right to be named Mr. Woodland.

The student government has wanted to host the competition for about eight years, said Chris Tomlin, a teacher and the advisor for the student government. Things finally came together last year.

“It’s exciting to try to introduce something that hopefully will become part of (Woodland) culture and tradition,” Tomlin said.

All of the proceeds from Mr. Woodland will go towards the student government’s trip at the end of June to the National Association of Student Councils’ National Leadership Conference in Oregon.
