PROSPECT — Mary Regina (Martell) Schnerr, 88, passed away peacefully, Jan. 30, 2016 in Waterbury after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was the wife of the late Harold L. Schnerr, Jr. with whom she was married for 55 years. She was born Dec. 27, 1927 in Winthrop, Mass., the daughter of Estelle Barro and Leo Baker.

Mary was a longtime resident of Prospect. In her earlier years, she served in the Civil Air Patrol as a major. She also served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and enjoyed rifle shooting with her husband and their travels through the United States and especially Florida.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Schnerr and his wife Lori of Prospect; and her daughter, Doreen (Schnerr) Cocchiola and her husband Robert Jr. of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two grandchildren, Kylene Schnerr and Eric Schnerr, both of Prospect; and a sister in law, Marjorie Schnerr, also of Prospect. She was predeceased by a sister, Louise Anderson of Watertown.

Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
