NAUGATUCK — A Naugatuck woman almost waited too long to collect her lottery winnings.

Jill Roland won $100,000 in the Connecticut Lottery’s Cash5 drawing for Nov. 6, the lottery announced in a press release. At the time, Roland decided to wait to collect her prize due to the holidays.

“I have seven children and seven grandchildren. I get a little stressed around Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I decided to wait,” Roland said in the press release.

What she didn’t realize was that all draw game tickets expire in 180 calendar days from the drawing date. Roland collected her prize at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill last week with some time to spare, though she vowed to make haste the next time she wins.

“Now that I know that, next time I won’t take so long to claim my prize,” she said in the release.
