NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck police took 120 bags of heroin and other drugs off the streets last week.

On Jan. 7, police responded to 96 Aetna St. for an attempt to locate a man wanted by warrant when they noticed a white 2011 Nissan Altima parked in front of the house. Instead, they found two others who had drugs and weapons in the car, police said.

Officer John Julian attempted to get out of his cruiser to speak with the driver of the Nissan when it sped away. Julian jumped back in his car, turned on his lights and sirens and chased after the Nissan. After catching up to the Nissan, Julian began questioning the driver, Tamaiba Aquino-Adorno, and a man in the front seat after calling for back up.

When officers searched the car, they said they noticed several bags filled with what appeared to be heroin, powder cocaine and crack cocaine. They also found a .45-caliber pistol with four rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, plus a purple stun gun, according to a police report.

Police said the man in the passenger’s seat, Christopher Poller, 22, of 81 Villagewood Drive, Waterbury, had several small pink bags and smaller clear plastic bags protruding out of his coat pockets. They later searched the coat and found 120 pink bags containing a brown, powdery substance that appeared to be heroin. He also had powder cocaine in the clear bags and three bundles of crack cocaine, police said.

Police said 120 bags containing a substance that tested positive for heroin were seized, along with 6.2 grams of cocaine.

Poller, a felon, was charged with sale of narcotics, stealing a firearm and two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies, plus a misdemeanor charge of interfering with an officer for lying to police about his name. He is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.

In December, police in Plymouth charged him and another man with second-degree larceny and interfering with an officer after police said they stole a rental car and led police on pursuit into Waterbury. Those charges are pending.

Poller has convictions for possession of narcotics, larceny and a probation violation.

Aquino-Adorno, 18, of 1081 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, was charged with theft of a firearm and weapons in a motor vehicle. She was released on a $7,500 surety bond.
