‘Tis the season for kicking off the holidays. Beacon Falls, Naugatuck and Prospect will each ring in the season with festive events.

Prospect will get things started on Sunday with the town’s annual Tree Lighting and Light Parade.

The Christmas Light Parade steps off at 5 p.m. in front of Community School on Center Street. All are invited to participate in the parade, which follows the same route as the Memorial Day parade, with a vehicle or a float. Trophies will be awarded for categories such as most lights, most comical and most religious.

The tree lighting ceremony will immediately follow the parade at Prospect Town Hall, 36 Center St.

“I hope this will get everybody in the holiday spirit,” Prospect Mayor Robert Chatfield said.

For more information, call Prospect Town Hall at (203) 758-4461.

Naugatuck’s 12th Annual Holiday Kickoff is set for Monday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the Town Green on Church Street.

The evening will include hayrides, refreshments and holiday music. Santa Claus will also be at the Green for children to visit with. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman will make special appearances, as well.

A photographer will be on hand to take photos with Santa for $5 or people can bring their own cameras. Residents are also invited to bring an ornament to decorate the town’s Christmas tree.

In addition to the traditional Christmas tree, the town will also decorate a military tree dedicated to members of the military. All are welcome to hang an ornament on the military tree to honor military members.

There is no admission for the event, but residents are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank.

The rain date is Tuesday. For more information, call Naugatuck Park and Recreation at (203) 720-7071.

Beacon Hose Company No. 1 will get Beacon Falls in the holiday spirit with its annual Tree Lighting and Bonfire Dec. 12.

The evening starts at 6 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony at Beacon Falls Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave., followed by lighting ceremonies at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Ave., and Beacon Falls Congregation Church, 69 Wolfe Ave.

A bonfire will be held at the Tracy Lewis House on Wolfe Avenue. Refreshments and hayrides will be available.

The rain date is Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. For more information, call Beacon Hose at (203) 729-1470.
