WATERBURY — Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Rehel, 77, of Waterbury, formerly of Prospect, passed away peacefully at the Village at East Farms on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015. She was the widow of Gerard Rehel, Sr.

Mrs. Rehel was born in Waterbury on July 25, 1938 daughter of the late Harold and Catherine (Collins) Smith. She was retired after working for 18 years as a clerk at Stop and Shop in Waterbury, was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect and a member of the Prospect Senior Center.

Mrs. Rehel is survived by three daughters, Stella DePardo and her husband Gerald of Glastonbury, Geraldine Lagerman and her husband Bruce of South Carolina and Jeannine Hankinson and her husband Steve of Virginia; six grandchildren, Justin DePardo, Alyssa DePardo, Christina DePardo, Sasha Rahe, Connor Hankinson and Sienna Hankinson, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, attorney Gerard Rehel, Jr., and a brother, Gerry Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial in Prospect Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
