PROSPECT — Mrs. Florence (Szydlowski) (Swiderski) Day, 91, of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 at Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of Henry Frank Swiderski and David Magie Day.

Mrs. Day was born in New Britain, a daughter of the late Walter and Kazimrera (Slivonik) Szydlowski.

She was retired after working at the G. Fox Restaurant and also formerly worked at the State of Connecticut Unemployment Office and was featured in Collier’s magazine as the first woman grinder of ball bearings. She enjoyed going to the Prospect Senior Center, growing organic vegetables, learning and teaching about nutrition, playing pinochle and poker and golfing and was a former member of the St. Hedwig Church Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Day is survived by two daughters, Karen Williams of Naugatuck and Elise Donna and her husband Brian of Cheshire; a son, Brian Swiderski and his wife Lauretta of Naugatuck; a sister, Emily Fearnley of New Britain; five grandchildren, Shannon Swiderski, Kelly Swiderski, Renee Donna, Ethan Donna and Tyler Williams and his wife Lucy; and great-grandchild, Carson Williams, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
