Obituary: Maria (Henriques) Timoteo

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Maria (Henriques) Timoteo, 94, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s with her loving family by her side. She was the wife for 65 years of the late Albino D. Timoteo.

Mrs. Timoteo was born March 10, 1921 in Murtosa, Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel J. and Maria A. (Henriques) Marques. She came to the United States in 1960, worked at Timex and Doval Manufacturing and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury. She was a woman of deep faith who attended mass regularly and more recently watched the daily mass on television. She loved gardening and being outside and enjoyed cooking Portuguese meals for her family.

Mrs. Timoteo is survived by two sons, Albino M. Timoteo of Naugatuck and Asencio (Ace) Timoteo and his wife, Patricia, of Naugatuck. She was affectionately known as “Bobo Mae” to her two granddaughters, Rachel Koerner and her husband, Michael, of Columbia, and Elizabeth of Milford; and great-grandson, Michael. She is also survived by a nephew, Jose Marques and his wife, Lidia, of South Carolina. She was predeceased by a brother, Antonio Marques.

Mrs. Timoteo’s family would like to thank Beatriz and Jackie for the love and comfort that they showed to Maria while in their care.

Mrs. Timoteo’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
