NAUGATUCK — Joseph Mariano, 53, of Naugatuck passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. Joe was born March 7, 1962 in Waterbury, son of the late Rocco and Marion (Pedro) Mariano.

Joe was an experienced truck driver and mechanic who worked for many companies in Connecticut. His most recent employer was Jamark Construction of Watertown.

Joe enjoyed life and was a free spirit. He will be remembered for his smile and his sense of humor. He could always be depended on if a friend or family member needed him. He loved animals and was a friend to all. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Marjorie Ashmore of Naugatuck, Nancy Garfield and her husband Peter of Naugatuck and his brother, Anthony Mariano and his wife Shirley of Middlebury. Joe is also survived by his nieces, Kim Mullin, Sherri Capaldo, Kelly Black, Terry Krasinsky; and nephews, Billy Ashmore and Michael Mariano. He is also survived by several cousins.

He will be greatly missed by his family, his companion, Lori Freedman, as well as his many other friends.

Calling hours will be held at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
