NAUGATUCK — Paul M. Cohen, 81, husband of the late Cynthia (Bossowick) Cohen, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at Paradigm of Prospect.

Mr. Cohen was born on June 23, 1934 in New Haven, a son of the late Nathan and Rose (Weiner) Cohen. He was a former bakery manager for Pathmark Supermarkets and he was a U.S. Army veteran.

Paul is survived by his daughters, Sheila Hayes and her husband, James, of East Granby, Lesley Cohen-Grassi and her husband, Steven, of Naugatuck; his sister, Anna Salesky. His true pride and joy were his four grandchildren, Bryan and David Hayes, and Ava and Lauren Grassi.

As a native Bronx resident, he brought his love of the Yankees, when he moved to Naugatuck in the early ‘70s. He enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, Md. and Disney where his grandsons nicknamed him Papa Pass. He had a love of the movies, going out to eat, and spending time with his dogs, Julie and Corky, as well as, his cat, Perry.

For all who knew him, Paul had a kind and caring soul, yet his dry sense of humor kept his family and friends laughing with him. He truly was young at heart and was always aware of current events happening in the news and with pop-culture.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Yankee Wing staff at Paradigm of Prospect, who provided excellent care during his six years of residence.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Road, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Paul’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
