NAUGATUCK — Deolinda (Pereira) Silveira, 96, widow of Jose Silveira, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015.

Mrs. Silveira was born in Portugal on Feb. 22, 1919, daughter of the late Domingos Pereira da Silva and Eugenia (Marques) da Silva. She emigrated from Portugal to the United States in 1972, and retired from Naugatuck Glass after many years of service. She enjoyed cooking and especially family gatherings. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Deolinda is survived by her sons, Jose Manuel Silveira and his wife, Luisa, of Portugal, George Silveira and his wife, Joanne,, of Thomaston; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Antonio Pereira da Silva, Maria Pereira da Silva, Manuel Pereira da Silva, Casimiro Pereira, and Olivia Pereira Cabral.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck from 5 to 7 p.m.
