BEACON FALLS — The number of Republicans on the ballot in November has officially grown by two.

Republicans Doug Bousquet and Randi Bellemare successfully petitioned to force a primary for a seat on the Region 16 Board of Education and Library Board of Trustee, respectively. However, since there are no other Republican candidates for those offices, there will not be a primary and both candidates will automatically be on the ticket.

The deadline to hand in petitions to force a primary was Aug. 12. No other candidates did so, according to the town clerk’s office.

The only contested seats in the November election will be for the school board, Library Board of Trustee and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Bousquet is also running for re-election to the Zoning Board of Appeals. He was one of three candidates the Republican Town Committee endorsed at its caucus in July. The other two were current Treasurer Michael Krenesky for selectman and Joe Dowdell for Board of Finance.

The Democrats are running a full slate of candidates, including incumbent First Selectman Christopher Bielik and incumbent Selectman Peter Betkoski, both of whom are seeking their second term.
