NAUGATUCK — Abilio Dias Cosme Vilarinho, 88, husband of Maria das Dores A. Vilarinho, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Freitas, Portugal on Jan. 11, 1927, he immigrated from Brazil to Naugatuck in 1974. He worked for many years at the Eastern Company and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, walks and gardening.
Besides his wife of 56 years, Abilio is survived by his son, William Vilarinho and Vimarie Gonzalez and her children, Jay and Sheyla; his daughter, Lucy Silva and her husband, Henry; his two grandchildren, Natalie and Brian; his sister, Maria Angelina of Brazil; his brother, Amaro of Canada; his brothers, Domingos and Manuel; and sisters, Ana and Benvinda of Portugal; and several nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank Connecticut Community Care, Inc. and Quality Home Care LLC staff, especially Deborah Erwin and Sonia Rodriguez, for their unwavering support and dedication to the care for Abilio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Waterbury. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck is assisting the family with arrangements.
