WALLINGFORD — Daniel J. Vignola, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 after a short illness at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. Daniel was born in the Bronx, N.Y., son of Mary and Vito (James) Vignola of the Bronx, N.Y.

Daniel lived most of his life in the Bronx, two years at the Village at East Farms in Waterbury, followed by the past three years at Ashlar Village (Masonicare), in Wallingford. He enlisted in and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943-1946, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, during World War II. He retired from Western Union after 30 years of service.

Throughout his life, of utmost importance to Daniel was, first and foremost, his beloved family, seconded by his passion for classical music. Daniel was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters and his loving wife, Eleanor Vignola. He leaves numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, great and grand nieces and nephews.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Masonicare (Assisted Living and Hearth at Pond Ridge North, Rehab and Hospice) staff for the excellent care they provided to Daniel.

All services were private. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
