NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of borough man found Sunday afternoon in the Long Meadow Pond Brook.

The body of 25-year-old Christopher Ferry, of Naugatuck, was found in the brook between Aetna Street and Rubber Avenue near the area of 300 Rubber Ave. Police responded to the scene at about 4:15 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive man in the water.

Ferry wasn’t breathing and lying in the water when officers arrived, police said. Officers attempted to revive Ferry on the scene. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Ferry’s death remains under investigation. No further details were available.

Naugatuck police spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata said the incident is being investigated as a “suspicious death” because police don’t know exactly what occurred, yet. Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests, he said.

Cammarata said detectives are looking to speak with anyone who knew Ferry or was in contact with him on Sunday. Anyone with information regarding Ferry’s death is asked to contact the Naugatuck Police Department at (203) 729-7106.
