Man’s death under investigation

NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of borough man found Sunday afternoon in the Long Meadow Pond Brook.

The body of the man, who has not been identified yet, was found in the brook between Aetna Street and Rubber Avenue. Police responded to the scene near the 300 block of Aetna Street at about 4:15 p.m. The man was found unresponsive in the water and taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.

“Every possibility is being looked at, and we won’t know what we have until we rule out all possibilities,” Lt. Bryan Cammarata, Naugatuck police spokesman, told the Republican-American.
