MOOSUP — Luke Czarny, 98, husband of the late Helen Czarny and Adele Schwenk Czarny, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Colonial Health Care Center in Plainfield.

Mr. Czarny was born in Woonsocket, R.I., on May 3, 1917, son of the late Wasyl and Mary Czarny. He lived in Moosup for the past 25 years and Naugatuck for many years. He worked for many years at Uniroyal, Inc., and his early retirement offered him the opportunity to spend time with his two grandsons and pass on his sailing and fishing skills. He enjoyed gardening, salt water fishing, and sailing, and he won many trophies by sailing his boat which he made. Luke was a member of the Quassapaug Yacht Club where he was past commodore. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Jacoboski and her husband, Ronald, of Naugatuck; his grandsons, David Jacoboski of Vernon and Marcus Jacoboski and his wife, Stephanie, of Old Saybrook; and several great grandchildren; his sister, Olga Semrow of Prospect.
