NAUGATUCK — Mr. John “Jack” Howard Lang, 82, of Naugatuck passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home after a long illness with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Helen (Hryniewicki) (Adamchick) Lang.

Mr. Lang was born in Waterbury, on Jan. 31, 1933, son of the late Howard and Mary “Mae” (O’Brien) Lang. He had a sister, Eleanor, who predeceased him. Jack had many jobs in his lifetime, but the one he enjoyed most was driving tractor trailer for Smith Transfer out of Wallingford for 19 years then New England Motor Freight Co. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was a member of the Honor Guard until he was honorably discharged

Jack’s passion was his 1937 Chevrolet business coupe which he restored completely on his own and took pride in showing it at numerous car shows. He had won many awards at the shows and enjoyed the wonderful people he met there. Jack also found time to visit the people he grew up with. The past few years he enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts every afternoon and passing the time of day and solving world affairs with the men he met there. He was a good man and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by his two sons, John Howard Lang, Jr. and is wife, Alison, of South Carolina and Richard Adamchick and his wife, Donna, of Naugatuck; two daughters, Dona Lang of Winsted and Tammy Lang of Winooski, Vt.; grandchildren, Tiffany Rinda and her husband, Ed, of Flordia, and Jordan Taylor and his wife, Kate, of Burlington, Vt., and Zachary and Martin Smith of Hoover, Ala., and Sarah Morasse; six great-grandchildren; Alexander and Adrianna Morasse, Ethan and Hailey Rinda, Connor Smith and Jack William Taylor, who was named after his great-grandfather.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Unit 1, Waterbury, CT 06708.
