BEACON FALLS — John J. Texira, 83, husband of Grace (Regan) Texira, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Beacon Brook Health Center with his loving family by his side.

Born Sept. 24, 1931 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Joseph and Fannie (Gonsalves) Teixeira, John had lived in Beacon Falls for the past 26 years. He was a retired employee of Allied Signal, where he had worked for 35 years.

John was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose favorite thing to do was enjoy time with family and friends. Whether for holidays, weddings, birthdays, camping trips, the annual Texira family picnic, or a Saturday trip to Wooster Street, New Haven for Pepe’s pizza, John reveled in the company of those he loved.

John was predeceased by his oldest son, Joseph Texira. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Grace Texira, John is survived by his daughter, Patricia Neves and her husband, Tony; his daughter, Grace Barbuschak and her husband, John S.; his son, David Texira and his wife, Mary; his daughter, Cheryl Ganser and her husband, Mark; his son, Daniel Texira and his wife, Jane; his son, Michael Texira and his wife, Suzette; his grandchildren, Dana Texira, Palmira Neves, Jason Ganser, Brooke Ramirez, Lt. Nicholas Macaluso, USMC, Michael Carroll, Christina Barbuschak, Meghan Texira, Staff Sgt. Travis Neves, USAF; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brothers, Jimmy Teixeira and Tony Teixeira; and his sisters, Cora Pisanelli and Beatrice Teixeira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Monday, April 6, 2015 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
