PROSPECT — Mr. Gary A. Glover, 69, of Prospect, formerly of Naugatuck, joined the angels and his son, Tad Charles Glover, in heaven on Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Gary was born in Waterbury on April 28, 1945, son of the late Charles and Emma (Kochis) Glover. He owned Gary’s Naugatuck Roofing for many years prior to his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trips to Mohegan Sun. He also enjoyed time with his family and friends. Gary will be remembered lovingly for his quick wit, his unique sense of humor, his nicknames for everyone and everything and for the love he shared with his family. The last few years of Gary’s life he came to know what was most important, his family. He showed them his kind and gentle spirit, and those memories will be forever in their hearts. He now rests peacefully, joining his son Tad, who he missed beyond words since his death in 1990.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Lynn Benevides of Prospect, with whom he made his home; his true love, friend and companion to the end Jean Ackerson, also of Prospect; his stepchildren, Lynn Barker and her husband, Bob “Snooks,” of Naugatuck, Laureen DeVito of Wolcott, Todd Strzesiewski and his wife, Pam, of Wolcott and Mark Strzesiewski of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his twin sisters, Patricia Marcisz of Oakville and Edith Mathis and her husband, Bob, of Mississippi; five grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special uncle, Roy Glover of Shelton, as well as other family and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Tad Charles Glover in 1990.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck will be at the convenience of the family. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 12 to 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VITAS 199 Park Road Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.
