Filing period open for elderly programs

NAUGATUCK — The Assessor’s Office is currently accepting applications for the elderly homeowners and elderly freeze programs.

Applications will be accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the office in Town Hall, 229 Church St., until May 15.

Income can’t exceed $34,600 for a single person or $42,200 for a married couple to qualify for the programs.

To be eligible for the freeze program, the homeowner or spouse must be age 70 or older and have lived in the state at least one year. There is also a $125,000 asset limitation, excluding a person’s primary residence in Naugatuck.
