REGION 16 — The Board of Education has approved a new three-year contract for administrators.

The deal was approved at the board’s Feb. 11 meeting. The contract with The Region 16 School Administrators’ Association runs from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.

Administrators will get a 2 percent raise in each year of the deal, according to the contract. All administrators not at the top salary step — there are five steps — will advance one step each year of the deal. The step costs are 0.76 percent in 2015-16, 0.70 percent in 2016-17 and 0.54 percent in 2017-18, according to the contract.

The deal offers two health care plans to administrators — a Preferred Provider Organization plan and a High Deductible Health Care/Health Savings Account. Under the contract, the health care cost share for administrators is 21 percent in the first year, 22 percent in the second and 23 percent in the final year.

Administrators get 21 sick days a year in the contract. Unused sick days can be accumulated to a maximum of 275 days. The district will pay retiring administrators $20 for each unused sick day above 150 up to a maximum of 100 days.

Administrators also receive four personal days and five compassionate days in case of the death of an immediate family member, according to the contract.

The contract also ends longevity pay for administrators hired after July 1, 2015.

Administrators hired before this contract takes effect receive longevity pay after 10 years in the district and at subsequent five-year intervals up to 30 years. Longevity pay is a one-time payment given when an administrators reaches a certain benchmark in the district. The payments start at $1,100 for 10 years of service. They increase $100 every five years to a maximum payment of $1,600 for administrators that have worked in the district for 30 years.
