WATERBURY — A Naugatuck man won’t serve prison time in connection to an assault that left a man with a slash wound to the face.
Richard Ancefsky, 49, was arrested in October following a heated argument with a 50-year-old man who told police the two had been longtime friends.
The slashed man told police that Ancefsky, of 933 Rubber Ave., attacked him inside his car. It is unclear what sparked the alleged argument, but it continued after the man returned home with Ancefsky still in the car, he told police.
Ancefsky was placed on probation for three years after his attorney submitted a written plea of no contest to a charge of second-degree assault as part of a plea deal announced Feb. 13.
Although Ancefsky won’t serve prison time, the deal calls for him to pay out-of-pocket expenses that the victim incurred while having his facial scar treated. The victim didn’t want Ancefsky to go to prison, according to a prosecutor.
Ancefsky has remained free since posting a $250,000 bond last year.
