WATERTOWN — Barbara B. (Boulanger) Bender, 71, wife of Paul D. Bender, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Waterbury, on April 11, 1943, daughter of the late Walter and Filomena (Zembrzuski) Boulanger. She was a graduate of Post College and a resident of Watertown for the past 25 years. She was an owner of Mason’s Gift Shop in Litchfield and former program director at the Waterbury Girls Club.

Barbara was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. She couldn’t get enough hugs from her grandkids. She loved camping, the beach, and was a creative person who always had projects in the works. Crafting, quilting and writing were just a few of her many joys.

Besides her husband of 49 years, Barbara leaves her three daughters, Sherie Cocchiola of Waterbury, Colleen Wright of Smithtown, N.Y., and Rebecca Jolley of Morgantown, Pa.; and her six grandchildren, Taylor, EmmaRose, Hanalei, Peyton, Aliza, and Parker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial and visitation will be private. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
