NAUGATUCK — Maria “Goretti” Fonseca, 61, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side. She was the wife of Avelino “Lino” Fonseca.
Goretti was born Dec. 15, 1953 in Vassal, Portugal, the daughter of the late Americo and Carmen (Gomes) Nobre. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident and worked for Untied Technologies for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Besides her husband, “Lino,” of 43 years, Goretti is survived by her children, Victor, Paula and her husband Shane Nelson. She shared a loving relationship with her grandchildren Jeffrey, Brandon, Victoria, Sophia, Gavin and Logan. Goretti is also survived by her extended family of two brothers and three sisters as well as their loving spouses and children.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, 9 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., to Our Lady of Fatima Church for mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
