Letter: Schools should enable young minds

To the editor,

A new year has started and maybe a new attitude or outlook for some people.

One person from Newtown says they “want peace.” Another blames the media for too much hype. One couple starts a lawsuit against the gun maker of the assassin’s weapon. Yet another starts a lawsuit against ineffective school construction.

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.

Some people who were aware of the assassin’s mental instability could have done something and did nothing.

We should not be building schools as though they are prisons or as mighty fortresses against enemies of war. Instead, we should enable children’s young minds to absorb all the education they can get and become fortresses against ignorance.
