Obituary: Joan B. Sweet

NAUGATUCK — Joan B. Sweet, 82, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at the Glendale Center in Naugatuck. She was the wife of the late Wayne Sweet.

Mrs. Sweet was born April 7, 1932 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Smith) Kochanowski. She was a lifetime Naugatuck resident where she was a member of the United Methodist Church and graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1950.

She most enjoyed her time spent with her family, watching backyard birds and wildlife, crossword puzzles, and most recently, Facebook with her loved ones and friends. She was an avid Naugatuck High football fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities.

Mrs. Sweet is survived by her sons, William and his wife, Lisa, David and his wife, Gina; her daughters, Debbie Lepore and her companion, Kurt Johansen, Donna Scott and her husband, Walter, and Darlene Lopes and her husband, Augie, all of Naugatuck as well as eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by one daughter, Diane Heady, one granddaughter, Laurie Ann Lepore and one brother, John Kochanowski.

A Celebration of Mrs. Sweet’s life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, 3 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:30 until the start of the service.
