To the editor,

Where has the time gone? It is fast approaching Christmas time. I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving Day with friends and family. With everything going on in the world I think we have many things to be thankful for.

Did you know that the Prospect Gun Club is going into its 34th year? I was going through some of the old club records and found some paperwork dating back to 1981. Just think, since then, we have grown tremendously. Exciting things are happening with the club. Folks have been exercising their Second Amendment right. We have now reached our max membership. What does this mean? Any new Prospect applicants will be placed on a wait list until an opening in the membership comes available. Unfortunately all out of town applications are not being accepted at this point. Our wait list is very long, however, this may change someday down the road if the membership changes. Please visit our website occasionally for news.

I want to thank Gene McCarthy and the town crew for helping the Gun Club recently. We purchased a storage container that was desperately needed. Gene and his crew helped create a spot for the container to fit perfectly for the club.

We finished our final event last month. It was the annual Turkey Shoot. We had a beautiful day. Everyone who showed up had a good time. The Prospect Men’s Auxiliary came to cook breakfast for all who came. Thanks to the auxiliary and thanks to the club members and residents that showed.

Our next big event that will be coming up is the annual Game Dinner. It will be Friday Feb. 6. Tickets are on sale, $40 per ticket. The menu includes Elk chili, Venison Lasagna, Mountain Man Meatloaf and much more. There will also be many raffle prizes including eight different guns and a Cabela’s raffle worth $500, $1,000 and $2,500. Tickets make great Christmas gifts. Get your tickets sooner rather than later. Last year we sold out. We are expecting the same this year. Contact the following for tickets. Stop by the VFW or contact myself via email or (203) 982-4124, Clayton Reynolds at Union Street Grille, (203) 982-3362, Dan Wheeler, (203) 232-7119, or any fellow Gun Club member if you know any.

If you are interested in getting your pistol permit or long rifle permit you may take an NRA safety class at the club. If interested please contact Russ Lubik, our safety officer, to schedule an appointment. (Call 860) 689-6347.

If you are a PGC member and have not been receiving my emails please contact me at prospectgunpresident@gmail.com and I will gladly add you to my list.
